Born to Move ? - What If?

Movement For Health - Born To Move
Picture
"Our bodies have become restricted due to
environmental, physical & mental constraints.

We are Literally Made to Move!

That's how our bodies transport nourishment to every cell.
We require constant movement to keep them supple and oiled."

- Michael Dean
An excerpt from the Kinisi Flow® manual

We know movement benefits us and every aspect of our body but If we think about the bodies architecture - fascia, joints, muscles and its biological requirement for movement, we begin to understand the importance for 'Movement for Health'.

The Bodies Architecture
  • Fascia is the biological fabric that holds us together. This connective tissue network is made up of neurons, muscle cells, epithelia, all humming in relative harmony. Fascia usually slides and glides as we move, however when the tissue becomes tight and fibrotic from a lack of movement, the ability to move freely and pain-free is reduced.
  • A Joint, also called an articulation, are designed to move. The majority of joints are structured in such a way that they allow movement. It's through movement they get their nourishment.
  • Muscles act on synovial joints to move the body. Without movement the synovial fluid becomes stagnant.

It's quite clear that movement is non-negotiable
We need it to transport nourishment, keep oiled and stay supple.

Therefore, this goes beyond our exercise & fitness solutions, that we believe is of service to our longevity of health. Don't get us wrong, we very much enjoy the training environment, as former amateur athletes ourselves.

But what if, we are viewing it all wrong?
What if, we viewed movement, as our medicine?
Would it change how we choose to move. How we spend our time moving. Would it all be different?

Something to read

Here is a short read from Katy Bowman's work, who shares a wonderful eye opening piece on this very topic.

READ: What If We Got Exercise All Wrong?
(Reading Time: ~3-4minutes)

“Thus we treat exercise as medicine for poor habits. We construct chairs for weak spines and bulging middles, we drive a few blocks instead of walking—and since we barely walk, we pad our feet in sneakers that produce anatomical nightmares up the posterior chain to our neck—and then we hope four or five hours a week on a treadmill will even the playing field.”"If we can convert some of the extra time we spend on exercise that benefits only us and maybe start using that movement to accomplish something more than just the movement, you would be extracting more nutrition, if you will, from your bout of movement."

'Movement should be something that you’re doing all of the time for yourself. That is the natural relationship of a human to movement. It’s like saying that breakfast is medicine for starvation. It’s not medicine; it’s just food. You’re supposed to be eating; it’s a biological requirement. The same holds true for movement."

Movement For Health

Our core philosophy has always been about moving to improve your health.
It is what made us evaluate how we spend our time training & moving. And have stacked up enough practice to experience the benefits, over 2 decades!!!

It's the ethos of what we teach in our community classes, as some of you will already know and we believe it is our duty to share. We cover this topic both in theory and in practical on the Kinisi Flow® workshop & platform.
We believe education on movement for health is a must for everyone. And an essential part of the workshop, is teaching you how you can achieve Movement for Health, and to have complete autonomy over how you choose do this.
